If you’re communicating with someone online, you’ll need to know the other person's email address, mobile number or other contact details (for example, WhatsApp or Facebook). If the other person doesn’t have EasyID app, they’ll be prompted to download the app and set up their account.
Here’s how you share your details remotely.
- Open the Post Office EasyID app and tap the 'Share' button at the top of the My EasyID page. You’ll see a list of the details you’re swapping (photo and mobile number if you didn’t add an ID document, or photo, full name and date of birth, among other information, if you added an ID document. Companies will also be able to ask you for a photo of your ID document)
- Choose how you want to send the share request. This could be by text, email, WhatsApp, Facebook and so on
- Enter the other person's contact number or email, tailor the message that goes with the request, and press ‘Send’
- Once sent, the other person will receive the message and can either accept or decline the share request. If accepted, you’ll see the receipt in your ‘Activity’ tab. Unaccepted requests expire after 72 hours
Remember: with ‘Swap details’ you’ll receive the same details that you share.
